The SLOPOKE Art of the West Exhibition is getting ready to present its 11th annual show Sept. 24-26 at Flag Is Up Farms, a 100-acre horse ranch in Solvang. The live art show celebrates the American West, its scenery, wildlife, ranch life and history, and offers guests the opportunity to meet the artists.

Showtime donates $500,000 to Chicago South and West side programs

Showtime is putting its money where its hit TV series is.

On Monday, executives from Showtime along with Mayor Lori Lightfoot and cast members from the Chicago-based show “The Chi,” announced a $500,000 donation from the network to the city’s Greencorps Chicago green job training program and the Chicago Public Art Group.

The grant funding will help support programs and community clean-up and beautification of 32 empty lots on the city’s South and West sides where the Lena Waithe-created series has been filming for four seasons.

Arts festival brings live entertainment back to West Hartford | News

WEST HARTFORD — Countless theaters and concert venues went dark for more than a year as the pandemic forced live entertainment to either go virtual, or cancel shows completely.

West Hartford Summer Arts Festival was no exception.

But the festival and town are making up for lost time, and entertainment, with the launch of Welcome Back West Hartford, building on the usual summer musical and offering even more programs and other performances for free.

“Coming into 2021, we were really missing live theater and shows,” said Tyler Lauretti, the festival manager.
