State Theatre, Island Fitness join businesses requiring vaccinations for entry

ITHACA, N.Y.—Island Health & Fitness became the latest local business to introduce a COVID-19 vaccination requirement, and the first local gym to do so, as the idea of vaccination requirements begins to extend beyond bars (and one local bookstore, Odyssey).

While personal fitness locations were not a major vector of infection during the earlier parts of the pandemic, the Delta variant’s prevalence and contagiousness has made contracting the virus increasingly likely even when fully vaccinated.

Several new mobile vaccination clinics by Three Rivers are coming up this Friday and Saturday. From 5-8 p.m. Friday, Three Rivers will be at Regency II Mobile Home Park at 807 S. Broad Street. They will be in Hooper and Herman on Saturday. WVSOM’s Fit Kids program promotes nutrition, health and fitness | State & Region

The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine’s (WVSOM) Center for Rural and Community Health (CRCH) is working with a group of WVSOM students to host a series of Fit Kids events aimed at promoting nutrition and fitness among area children ages 6 to 11.

The Fit Kids program began with a pilot event in May and continued with a welcome event on Aug. 22. Each session includes games and opportunities for education centered on a particular theme.
