Florida couple awarded for interrupting their wedding day to help pedestrian hit by car

Two Florida law enforcement officers who interrupted their wedding to assist an injured pedestrian were given a state award for responding on their big day.

Taylor and Christopher Rafferty were presented with the Florida Attorney General Office’s Back the Blue Award on Thursday by Attorney General Ashley Moody.

Taylor Rafferty told reporters that she and her husband just followed their instincts and training when they came to the man’s aid. Her husband told reporters that getting involved was “a natural response.”

Police rescue bride after her car breaks down on the way to her wedding

A bride had to be rescued by a police officer recently after her car broke down in the middle of the highway. 

Lydia Evans-Hughs, 29, from Wrexham, Wales, was on her way to her wedding last week when the vintage car she and her parents were riding in broke down, according to SWNS. 

Evans-Hughs told SWNS that the vintage car had been “fine for the first five miles” before it “just gave up the ghost.”

Irish man dies in car crash just hours before wedding day

A 20-year-old man was killed in a car crash in Ireland just hours before he was set to walk down the aisle, authorities said.

Myles Harty, of Limerick, died at the scene after the car he was in veered off the road and hit a pole around 1 a.m. Saturday, The Sun reported.

The crash came the same day as his nuptials at St. Munchin’s Church in Limerick City.

His heartbroken fiancée, Kate Quilligan, paid tribute to him on what would have been their wedding day by releasing balloons in his memory outside the church.

Student killed after taking car she mistook for Uber was victim of ‘heinous’ acts, prosecutor says

A college student suffered “heinous, cruel and malicious acts” as she was kidnapped and murdered two years ago by a man she mistook for her Uber driver, a South Carolina prosecutor told jurors Tuesday.

The woman, Samantha Josephson, was out with her friends, just months short of graduating from the University of South Carolina, before she was killed on March 29, 2019, authorities said.

Authorities said Josephson, 21, a native of Robbinsville, New Jersey, was in Columbia’s Five Points entertainment district when she got into Nathaniel Rowland’s black Chevrolet Impala, believing it was her ride home.
