The SLOPOKE Art of the West Exhibition is getting ready to present its 11th annual show Sept. 24-26 at Flag Is Up Farms, a 100-acre horse ranch in Solvang. The live art show celebrates the American West, its scenery, wildlife, ranch life and history, and offers guests the opportunity to meet the artists.

84 Orange County Arts and Entertainment Orgs, Promoters Get $78 Million in Grants

Eighty-four Orange County arts and entertainment organizations, venues and promoters have been awarded nearly $78 million in grants through the federal Shuttered Venue Operator Grants (SVOG) program, which opened in April. Results were released late last month and early this month.

The $16.25 billion program is being run by the U.S. Small Business Administration to provide assistance to independent venues, movie theaters, promoters and nonprofit arts organizations that have been severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic over the past year and a half.

Toledo Art Walk forges ahead | Arts & Entertainment

Michael Gibbons opened his Toledo studio to the public in the early 1990s, first as part of the “Artists on Location” studio tour of Corvallis’s Vistas & Vineyards, and then as a foundation of what became the annual Toledo Art Walk.

Through the ensuing decades, other Toledo artists came and went, but Gibbons remained at the heart of Art Walk until his death in 2020. Book of fine art features works by Michael Gibbons | Arts & Entertainment

A newly published fine art book, “Michael Gibbons – Painting in Nature,” depicts Gibbons’ extensive career and features more than 150 images of work from Oregon and around the world, integrated with Gibbons’ personal reflections on painting and his philosophy of creating art based on observing nature. “When I’m painting in nature, it is the divine experience of the land that feeds my inspiration,” said the artist, who passed away last year.

Born in Portland in 1943 and a fifth generation Oregonian, Gibbons actively painted the Oregon landscape for 55 years.

The Museum of Arts & Sciences offers events and exhibits at 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach.

The fourth installment of the annual Beaux Arts Group of Central Florida exhibit, “A Symphony of Color” is on display to Nov. 28.

The Beaux Arts Group of Central Florida was founded in 1962 by the students of the late Lillian “Lu” Belmont of New York City. The group is comprised of 50 professional artists, working in all mediums, who place a strong emphasis on experimental creative approaches brought to quality design conception and techniques.
